Most frequent questions and answers

We cater to authors, researchers, students, professionals, and businesses. Make sure you select the user type that best describes you—it helps when we’re matching your work to the perfect proofreader.

When uploading your document, you will enter basic details about your writing so that we can best pair your work with an editor. You will also be able to select a specific dialect, return time (see more below), and add notes. Our system accepts .DOC and .DOCX file formats, but we can also work with many other file types. Simply email us your work if you have another format.

We have a Next-Day Guarantee on all documents under 10,000 words. If 24 hours isn’t quick enough, you can add our Express Service to cut your return time in half. Additionally, while uploading, you can provide details on when you need your work returned to you, and we’ll try and accommodate these deadlines.

We charge per word, so you only ever pay for what you submit. You can complete payment with all major credit and debit cards through our payment provider Stripe. Your payment details will also be stored securely so you can reuse them easily in the future. If you would rather Stripe doesn’t store your card details, you can remove them in your account settings.

Based on your user type and your document specifications, we will allocate your work to the perfect proofreader. If you would like to use the same proofreader that edited a previous piece of work, contact us and provide us with the document info, and we’ll set your account to default to your preferred editor.

Your work will be expertly proofread and quality checked by one of our highly trained QA team. If you’ve selected formatting, then your document will also be formatted to the specifications you provided during upload.

Once complete, you’ll receive an email notifying you that your work is available in your user area. You will be able to download both a track changes and a clean copy so that you can individually accept each alteration or quickly access a completed document.

You will also be able to download the receipt for your purchase and a certificate of proofreading—sometimes required by journals and academic institutions—from your user area.
